Subcontracting for general contractors in Greater Montreal

Interior systems, soundproofing and restoration packages for your jobs, with our certificates provided before the work starts and extras priced quickly.

General contractors

A team that reads your plans, prices out-of-contract work quickly and gives you its compliance documents before setting foot on site.

Construction AIM is a general contractor based in Anjou. We also work as a subcontractor for other general contractors, in Montreal, on the North Shore, including Laval, and on the South Shore: interior systems, soundproofing and work added during the contract. Because we run job sites ourselves, we know what you expect from a subcontractor.

What concerns you

On a commercial or institutional job, you need subcontractors who keep to the schedule, coordinate with the other trades and expose you to no administrative risk.

The client's schedule

A delay on partitions or soundproofing holds up everything that follows: electrical, finishing, ceilings, handover.

Out-of-contract work

An architect's instruction adds unplanned work. You need a quickly priced offer, with verifiable quantities, to get it approved by your client.

Your liability for your subcontractors

Licence, CNESST contributions, tax attestation: a missing document at a subcontractor can become your problem.

Coordination on site

A subcontractor must follow your site rules, work cleanly and communicate with your superintendent.

II

Our documents, before the work starts

Before the work starts, you receive the documents that protect you as the hiring contractor.

  • Valid RBQ licence, with a licence security bond in force.
  • CNESST certificate of compliance: according to the CNESST, this document releases the hiring employer from possible liability for the contributions owed by the contractor it hired.
  • Revenu Québec attestation: since 2016, it can also be required from a subcontractor in private construction contracts, depending on the value of the contracts signed with the same contractor. The contractor must then obtain a copy and check its authenticity no later than the 10th day after the work starts.
  • Liability insurance certificate: in force.
  • Labour paid at CCQ rates, in accordance with the collective agreements.

Frequently asked questions from general contractors

How do you price work outside the contract?

From the instruction or the plans you send us, and a visit if needed. The offer lists the products, the areas and the labour, so that the quantities can be validated by the architect before approval.

Do you provide your certificates before the work starts?

Yes. RBQ licence, CNESST certificate of compliance, Revenu Québec attestation and insurance certificate are provided with the offer or before mobilization, and their validity is confirmed before we start.

Can you step in quickly?

When the schedule is tight, say so in your request. We confirm our availability and the mobilization date with the offer.

What are your prices based on?

Our prices are based on the current wage rates of the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ), set by the collective agreements for the sector concerned (residential, institutional and commercial, industrial), plus the materials and equipment specific to each job. Every quote is free, detailed and prepared after a site visit.

Do your workers have their CCQ cards?

Yes. On job sites covered by Act R-20, such as those in the institutional, commercial and industrial sectors, workers must hold a competency certificate from the Commission de la construction du Québec and be paid under the sector's collective agreement. Our workforce meets these requirements.
